I’m given the task by my employer Caesar Groep (www.caesar.nl) to create a plug-in for Hyperic to provide some basic monitoring of SonicMQ. SonicMQ is the proprietary middleware (messaging/ESB) product of Progress Software Corporation (www.sonicsoftware.com). The purpose is to replace our current self made monitoring tool with the use of Hyperic with the added plug-in.
The following functions are planned to be implemented in the first version of the plug-in:
• Monitor status of MF-Containers (active/down)
• Monitor status of ESB-Containers (active/down)
• Monitor how many messages reside on a queue,
with the possibility to trigger an E-mail or SMS when this quantity of messages reaches a certain configurable threshold
Our target is that the plug-in will become a full fledged open-source contribution to Hyperic.
