Back in February I upgraded a cluster of my servers to v5.1. Before doing so I checked the VMWare HCL and everything checked out fine so I went ahead with the upgrade. We were running fine until this past week when one of the servers experience two PSODs over four days. I opened a case with VMWare as well as the server vendor (Cisco). It was determined by Cisco that the server is, in fact, notcompatible with v5.1, even though VMWare says otherwise.
Cisco recommended downgrading to v5.0u1, which is the latest version that they say is supported. I know there is a recovery option to roll back to the previous version, but its unclear to me if this is simply a rollback to version 5.0 or a "point-in-time" restore in which I will lose any configuration changes. Also, I have upgraded the Virtual Hardware on a few of my VMs to the "vmx-09" version - not many, maybe five of the 42. What are the implications of those VMs running on 5.0?
I appreciate any help!
