We have a client where we run about 25 virtual workstations with View (5.1). When we provision with View Composer, 4-6 of the vms will get a provisioning error with the following:
<date and time of failure> View Composer Fault: Unexpected VC fault from View Composer (Unknown) - Unknown -
<fault xsi:type="FileLocked" xmlns="urn:intervalvim25" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<file>[datastore1]replicat-<long replica number>.vmdk</file>
</fault>
We've switched off the "stop provisioning on error" option in Composer so failures get ignored and the pool completes. We've just resolved to provision 6 more machines than needed knowing that several will fail!
I've looked around online and found VC faults but none of this type. Unfortunately, we don't have support on this box.
Running ESXi 5.1 on a Dell PowerEdge T420 provisioning WinXPsp3 machines with nothing fancy on them... Office, Filemaker, etc. We run another deployment slightly larger than this at a different client with ESXi 5.1 and View 5.1 and have never had this issue, so I know we got it setup right :-)
Any ideas?
