VMware Player, version 5.0.2 build-1031769
Host: WinXP3 (32 bit)
The link below points to my OP...
...but it goes deeper. I think there may be a problem with Player 5.0.2 build-1031769.
I hid my existing Guest and re-installed Player. Then I started to create a new Guest. In the 'New Virtual Machine Wizard' I saw this:
Ready to Create Virtual Machine
Click Finish to create the virtual machine. Then you can install Ubuntu 64-bit.
The virtual machine will be created with the following settings:
Name: Ubuntu 64-bit
Location: C:\My Virtual Machines\Ubuntu 64-bit
Version: Workstation 9.0 <<-- NOTE
Operating System: Ubuntu 64-bit
Version: Workstation 9.0? That's got to be a bug. Maybe that's the reason why, when I attempted to update, my Player installation got screwed up. If someone will confirm, I'll file a bug report.
Player 5.0.1 did the same thing, so I tried installing Player 4.0.6 build-1035888. In the 'New Virtual Machine Wizard' I saw this:
Ready to Create Virtual Machine
Click Finish to create the virtual machine. Then you can install Ubuntu 64-bit.
The virtual machine will be created with the following settings:
Name: Ubuntu 64-bit
Location: C:\My Virtual Machines\Ubuntu 64-bit
Version: Workstation 8.0 <<-- NOTE
Operating System: Ubuntu 64-bit
Version: Workstation 8.0? Was Player 4 screwed up too, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
In Player == Workstation ? I was assured that Player is not Workstation. Can anyone tell me what's going on because I'm dead in the water.
Thank you,
Mark.
