I'm not sure whether this is the best place to ask this - so if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. I tried emailing sales with this question but I haven't gotten a response yet.
I'm trying to purchase an upgrade to VMware Workstation 9 from the academic store. I bought Workstation 7 several years ago and I've registered that license with My VMware. When I attempt to purchase the upgrade, the site says that I don't have any eligible licenses. On the other hand, if I attempt to purchase the upgrade from the regular store (rather than the academic store) my Workstation 7 license does show up as eligible for upgrade.
So I'm wondering whether this behavior is because I'm doing something wrong. Maybe I have to register my license somewhere else in order for the academic store to find it? Or, is it because the academic store has additional restrictions on what licenses could be upgraded through it? If so, anyone know the specifics?
Thanks for any help.
Edit: To clarify, by "academic store" I mean http://www.vmware.com/vmwarestore/academicstore.html .
