We currently run a mix of ESX 4.0 U2 and ESXi 5 U2 hosts. vCenter is version 5. Most host NICs are 1 GB. vCenter virtual switches are configured as standard. We need to
reduce the number of Cisco ports requested from our network group as they are at a premium. Some testing has been performed using VLAN ports. Will Distributed Switching
do more than just centralize network management within vCenter ? Does it reduce the the number of NIC ports on hosts or does each host still need to have it's own physical
connections to the networks it needs to talk on ? What are others doing ? Thanks.
