Hello world !!!
I am just trying to set up VS2 on two machines.
So far they are working, but I still have some problems with the configuration :
1. I cannot manage to get an image of Windows Home Server 32-bit to run on.
The machine always tells me, that the image is not valid. I use the most recent
converter from vmware. What setting do I have to use to create a working image ?
As far as I know WHS is some kind of Windows server 2003, but with this
setting, it also does not work.
2. The two machines are working as a cluster with DRBD and heartbeat with the
following setiings:
eth0 213.xxx.yyy.41 management IP on machine 1 (master)
eth0 213.xxx.yyy.42 management IP on machine 2 (slave)
eth0:0 213.xxx.yyy.40 IP on active machine
If the master or a service on that machine fails, IP 213.xxx.yyy.40 on this machine
is shut down on this machine and slave takes over by activating this IP and starting
the services.
The problem is, that the webmanagement is only reachable via the 41/42 IPs, depending
on which machine is active. This is nice, but more important would be that the currently
active machine is reachable via the 40 IP.
Any hints on that problem ?
3. VS2 is outdated. Is there a newer solution that does what VS2 does ?
Tried vSphere (free version) but the installation CD in not recognised.
Downloaded and burned 5 times without any success.
Tried Player but it does not start because of no X server installed, what is
quiet normal for a server that does not have a graphics card installed.
The system should only host a small linux system for hosting my private website
and the Win Home Server for data storage and music streaming. Maybe a second
Linux for playing around and testing.
The commercial versions for thousands of $ are not a solution.
TIA
