I am in the process of migrating all of our servers to a new datastore and have been doing online storage vMotions from the old datastores to the new. A majority of the servers have gone off without a hitch however at least two of them have left .vmdk files behind. When I browse the old datastore I see \SEC-VMS01\SEC-VMS01-000003.vmdk , a 24 MB file with a modified date of 6/30/2011.
I looked at the .vmx file and see no reference to this file. Here is what I found:
sched.swap.derivedName = "/vmfs/volumes/4e00bf8d-99256f80-a7d0-001e0beda51a/SEC-VMS01/SEC-VMS01-2501554d.vswp"
scsi0:1.deviceType = "scsi-hardDisk"
This server is currently running fine and previously had snapshots that were removed some time ago. It appears to me that this is simply a leftover file and should be ok to delete it however I want to make absolutely sure and am having a hard time making that determination. We are decommissioning this datastore by the end of the week so I need to have it cleaned up before then. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
