Create a constrained CI QD field

I want to be able to create a QD field that is constrained by CI Type  (or Service Type).  When it goes to do a search for a CI it always searches based on CMDB Item Type >= "server" or CMDB Item Type >= "database instance".  This would be greate for workflows.

Using VMS 9.0.7.35.  Any hints?  If possible through designer and the html editor, but I've been known to export and reimport before.
